A podcast is a series of audio or video digital-media files which is distributed over the Internet by syndicated download, through Web feeds, to portable media players and personal computers. Am I gonna be pod-caster?? I don’t know.
Maybe in the future when I have the equipment, the desire and something to talk about.

I’m I gonna give a technical tutorial of how to create a podcast?? I think there are enough of those on the internet.
No I wanted to talk about the podcasts I’m listening to.
First off I’m gonna say somethings that some of the loyal Ubuntu people are gonna dislike. I have a WinXP machine with iTunes to sync music and the podcasts to my Ipod. There are some who are gonna wanna send me links for ubuntu and Ipod. Tried that, but that’s a story for another post.

I wanted to Talk about some of the podcasts I’m enjoying. Or used to enjoy.
Here is my little list.

The 10th wonder podcast (A podcast about the show Heroes)
Dilbert (Animation about a office worker)
Talking Metal (the name says it all)
College Humor TV (show very funny movies)

I used to listen to “Lets get naughty” Maybe I’ll add that to my list again.

The 10th Wonder
Just a weekly Show made by two guys who are fans of the tv-show Heroes. They Speculate about the characters, the story etc. I just started listening to them so the podcast is still in season one. But it’s nice to hear them talk about the old episodes. Reminding my about some things I forgot and understanding better why some things are happening now in the series.

Dilbert
If you work in a office and you recognise these situations… I feel very sorry for you. But it’s funny when you are just looking at it.

Talking Metal.
Two guys talking about metal and interviewing artists etc. I really recommend this one to metalheads.

College Humor TV
The Guys (and Girl) from this podcast make short movies. Very funny movies. You need to see it to believe it.

Lets get naugthy
The name reveals a little, but I’m guessing you know what this one is about if not you need to reboot your dirty mind.
Yep a Guy and a Girl talking about sex. Two ordinary people talking about their sexual experience. Nothing is taboo.
The problem with this one is listening to it makes me horny. And listening at work on my Ipod…. Not a very good time/place to become horny.

I’m still looking for a good LOST Podcast. The LOST podcasts I’ve started did not meet my expectations.
I love that series, But they are one a very long break. The fans have to wait until February for the next season.

The King has fallen

The king came to this country, he though “I’ll come, I’ll see and I’ll conquer”. But what happened… He came, he saw and he fell flat on his face. He wanted to be loved by everyone but is you ask people on the street about him, most will say “I’ve had better” or “He disappoints me” or “I’ll never go again”. I’m one of the people that says the last one.
The King came to our little country and was hoping for the success he had in the rest of the world. Sorry King, the way you are now it’s not gonna happen.
The strange thing is in other countries the King is great. He is the ruler by my standers. But he lost it when he came here.

So the King came and he fell on his face. Now who is the one ruling here?? The colonel was the first who came and for a while he was the ruler. After that the clown took over. The clown still has a dominant place here. The sailor came and he took a good place just behind the clown.
When the King announced he was coming, the colonel, the clown and the sailor where afraid to lose there place. But they didn’t.
Now there are a few locals who want to rule. They aren’t that well known as the colonel, clown, sailor and King. Not world wide known that is. Locally they can put up with the best of them. The bunker and The Smiley face. Of course there are a lot of people who do not want to give them the chance because they believe the outsiders are better. They believe this without giving the locals a chance. Not very fair if you ask me.
Personally I belief that the bunker is the ruler. With his uniqueness he won my vote. He is not only unique. He has little to learn from the others, maybe only how to dress :). But the bunker has a quality over him none of the others poses.
The Smiley face is a very very good second place. He brings a lot of our local culture to mind. Bu tin such a way he is good enough to compete against the international competition. He too can learn a little bit about dressing.

If you do not agree with my list……. Go get your taste buds examined.

In the land of burgers the whopper is not always king. We just proofed that.

Crystal skull Aliens???

Until a few days ago I did not see the fourth Indiana Jones movie. I loved the precious movies so I wanted to see the fourth one on DVD or in the theater. Now since there is one theater in Paramaribo and they did not show it, I did not see it yet.
I am a loyal fan of south park. In episode 1208, the China Probrem, the south park guys accused Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas of raping their good friend Indiana Jones. Translation…. They still love the character but the plot of the movie was very bad.
This harsh ‘review’ made me wonder just how bad the movie was. So I downloaded it and watched.
The south park guys where right. Indiana Jones was brutally gang raped by Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas and all the writers of the movie.

Lets make a list of the plots of Indiana Jones movies and you’ll understand I hope.

Raiders of the lost ark –> Indy is looking for the biblical arc.
Temple of Doom –> Indy is looking for the legendary Adi Shankara stones.
Last crusade –> Indy is looking for the holy grail.
Kingdom of the crystal skull –> Indy is looking for Inca Gods that happen to be Aliens. In El Dorado that later turns out to be a spaceship.

I mean come on. Al of the former movies where mystery, adventure and some magic. And all of a sudden they put science fiction in it?? Have they lost there minds??

Okay to be honest the movie has it’s good parts. We see Dr Jones as we all know and love him. He is smart, gets in trouble and gets out of it. He also makes a lot of jokes about getting old. The story gives us a good character that could possibly follow in his footsteps. Lets face it, Harrison Ford is getting old. He can’t keep playing the part. And another actor?? I think not. There is only one Indiana Jones. Those are the good things about the movie

BUT THEY RAPED HIM WITH THE ALIENS. There are a lot of legends they could use. There are a lot of plot endings they could have used and the bastards choose Aliens.
They could have gone with Atlantis, Camelot, The Roanoke Colony, Sodom and Gomorrah, King Solomons mines. But they choose Aliens in a El Dorado that turns out to be a 500 year old spaceship.

In a Indiana Jones movie we want to see legends, mystery, booby-traps etc.
We DO NOT want to see Vampire’s, Werewolves or Aliens.

If you guys want to see this movie go ahead. I’m never looking at it again. I’m taking out the previous DVD’s and out of respect for Indy I’ll look at those and I’ll never ever buy Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls.

losing a limb

Last saturday I lost my phone. A HTC Touch. It feels like losing a limb. I had about 250 contacts in it. vrom all over the world. Good thing most of them where also on my computer. So The contact info is not lost. Losing my phone made me realise how dependent I am of mobile communication. It couldn’t happen in a worse time.
Here is the story. Friday it was Halloween, So naturally it was party until…. very late. The next morning I had to get up early to go to work. Not my usual work. I was the technical support at a Clico . There everything went fine. Afterwards I had to go to my usual work. Because I was late I took a taxi. After a couple of hours at work I wanted to call somebody and found out that I did not have my phone. That was the moment I started to panic. I know I had my phone at home because I answered a call. I almost took the office apart to find my phone. I called home and my sister looked everywhere. So the only place I can image it is is in the taxi. I called the taxi company and they told me the driver didn’t find it. I don’t really believe that. But without proof there is nothing I can do.

It’s bad to lose the phone the timing made it worse. I had to meet a girl in the mall. One I haven’t seen in 8 years. The deal was I was suppose to go to the mall after work and call her. Now how can I call a girl if her number is in the phone I just lost. I went to the mall hoping to bump into her. Didn’t happen. I did meet her later that night, I did have her phone number at home.

In the mean time I blocked my number and informed what to do next. I can get my number back on a new sim but for that I need some info I left in the office. Until then I can only be reached via mail or MSN.

PS. The Halloween Party was tha bomb. I’ll post pictures on the rock site I manage.

Love is Trouble

It has been a long time since I’ve really been in love. You know the real puppy love kind of thing. She is the first one you think of when you wake up and the last one on your mind when you go to sleep. Can’t eat, can’t sleep and in the middle of the day you want to know what she is doing. I haven’t felt like that since I was eighteen. My first girlfriend, real girlfriend was the first and only person I was really in love with. All the other relationships I had I really like the girls. But the feeling was not the same. That special feeling was missing. I think most of them feel the same way. Now after a long time I feel something for somebody that really comes close to that loving feeling. I think that given the chance she and I could end up together.

There is just one problem. And this is a major problem. She already has a boyfriend. Yep you read correctly. She already has a boyfriend. Some of you might think “That Bitch”. But that’s not true. She never played me or something. She told me from the start. So if love was just a thing coming from the mind, the smart thing would be not to fall in love. But love is a feeling from the heart. So even with the boyfriend in the picture my feelings for her started to grow.
She did not do anything to press it and she never abused or misused the situation. She is faithful to her boyfriend. Which makes her more attractive.

So what am I suppose to do with this situation??
I’m not gonna be her … (what’s the male version of mistress???)…. the guy she cheats with..
I’m not gonna try to ruin her relationship. I would hate myself if I did that.
So the only thing I can really do is try to move on and secretly hope that her current relationship won’t last.

First I had to rip the dvd then I wanted to upload it to youtube But youtube doesn’t accept films longer then 10 minutes, and this one is 12 minutes. So I had to upload it to my server. It’s over 100 mb so it took a while. About three days, thank god for the resume upload option om my ftp server.

Okey enough talk. Here is the movie. Enjoy :):)

Men at work

Someone asked me why I don’t blog about my work. I have a very technical and very interesting job. Blogging about it could help people who try to do the same thing. This could all be try. But there is a reason why I don’t do it. I have a very technical job and most of the people I know wouldn’t understand most of my posts. For example. My brother is one of the smarted people I know. In high school he used to tutor math over the phone. To give you an idea how smart he is. But if I start talking to him about what I do he has only one response “NERD”. He doesn’t understand half of it because it doesn’t interest him. And that is exactly why I’m not posting about my work. The people who read my blog now would stop reading because it’s boring.

I think reading about my life is much more interesting than reading about sms technology and making the connection using different communication protocols. Okay I think that is the most boring sentence of this post. I promise not to write about my work anymore.

Young Grow Old

This could be my most pissed off post yet. But some people kept ticking me off. So I have to get this off my chest. Here goes

Yes everybody. I’m a Thirty year old male, I’m not married, I don’t have any kids and at the moment I’m not in a serious relationship.

I’m not having a problem with it, my mother doesn’t have a problem with it and my brother don’t have a problem with it. Why should some of you out there have a problem with it. Do You really think that because you are pushing me I’ll like a girl faster, get married faster and get kids faster??

Some of you may think what is he rambling about. Well here it is.

Some of you have been bugging me with this. “You are thirty years old. Time to get a wife and make some kids” and “I want to see some babies is the near future”

I don’t have a serious relationship at the moment and I’m not in a hurt to get one. And if you want babies in the near future get them yourself.

I’m not against marriage and kids. I just haven’t met the girl I want to marry yet. People could argue that I haven’t looked hard enough. That’s right, I haven’t. Because I’m not in a hurry. And the argument you all use “I want to see you happy”. I am happy until you came bugging me about my age, and marriage and kids.

Setting me up with a friend of yours?? I have no problem with that.But it all depends on the way you talk to me about it. “I have a friend and I think you would like her” is a whole other approche than “I think I got the perfect wife for you”

So for the last time. I’m thirty, I’m not married, I don’t have any kids and I’m not in a serious relationship. Deal with it.

webchange/coffee

I was thinking (never a good idea). What do I need on my website??
For the most part My weblog is used. And wordpress has all the tools I need for the rest of the site. So I’m considering moving my weblog from http://weblog.rafieksilver.com to http://www.rafieksilver.com
Make the weblog my main site. There are a few thing I can’t do with wordpress but there are always ways to solve thse problems.
For example: The photo gallery; I love to use is coppermine. For as far as the internet has told me there is no wordpress/coppermine bridge.
I think I’m gonna get ditch the guestbook. People can comment in any post they want. Do I need a FAQ section??? How many Questions could somebody have about a personal site??? So out with the FAQ page. I used to have a yahoo like link section. Bould in PHPhoo. I’m not sure I want to ditch it. But I’m also not sure I want to use it. So that is in the maybe pile.
So far these will be the changes:

(sub) domain change.
Coppermine gallery is making a come back.
Guestbook and FAQ will be removed.
Portfolio will return.

The only thing I’m not really sure of is the links page. But untile I know if I want it it will stay on the shelf.

Now on another note. I’m back on my coffee addiction. I don’t sleep well, especially in the weekend (party time) and I have to work during the week. So after I had a party weekend I need something to stay awake on mondays (like garfield said: I hate mondays). And coffee is my drug of choice. At the moment I’m up to 4 cups of coffee a day. I think if I was gonna have to loos a drug addiction It would go easier then losing my coffee addiction. I’m smelling the coffee now. Until my next post, I’m gonna get a cup of coffee :):)

Father/Daddy

My brother started his own blog. His first post is about his little unborn daughter. In Holland is was funny to see him change since he heard he was gonna be a daddy. I know him so he is nog just gonna be a father but he is gonna be a daddy.

What is the difference?? A father is the guy who got the girl pregnant, takes care of her and the kid. A daddy is the same as a father but he also plays with the kid, changes the dirty diaper and is willing to embarrass himself for the joy and the happiness of his kids. So he is willing to play fairy godfather/mother if his little princess is playing Cinderella.

Yep my brother is gonna be a daddy. And if he is wearing the fairy godmother dress, i hope his girlfriend will snap a picture for me :):)
